A unique working partnership among the departments of neurology, neurosurgery, orthopedics and interventional neuroradiology puts a multidisciplinary approach into practice, helping to ensure the right diagnosis and the most effective treatment plan for each individual patient. Georgetown's Pain Management Center and its recent affiliation with the renowned National Rehabilitation Hospital further work to restore well being, independence and quality of life, helping to return patients to home, family and friends.

Neurological disorders often cut across clinical specialties, requiring physicians to consult with experts from departments throughout the hospital. The collegial atmosphere of Georgetown University Hospital, a nationally known tertiary care center, and resources available from the Georgetown University School of Medicine encourages this type of consultation, ensuring the best, most comprehensive patient care. From the Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center to the MedSTAR Transport Program, Georgetown offers a full range of services that can make a significant difference in a patient's ultimate outcome.

Georgetown’s Department of Neurology  offers sophisticated diagnostic and treatment technologies for patients with a wide range of medical conditions including: stroke, multiple sclerosis, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), neuromuscular disorders (muscular dystrophy, myasthenia gravis, peripheral neuropathy), Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, epilepsy, sleep disorders and headaches.

Neurosurgery Department  provides a full range of treatment options for patients with aneurysms, abnormal growths, hemorrhages and nerve damage. For information, call 202-444-4972.

With the recent appointment of a pediatric neurosurgery specialist to Georgetown's full-time medical staff, we can now treat children with epilepsy, tumors, AVMs, spina bifida, craniosynostosis and shunt problems as well as those suffering from or at risk of stroke due to blood clots, aneurysms or congenital diseases.

Department of Interventional Neuroradiology, has the latest tools and technologies for the treatment of aneurysms, arterial venous malformation, strokes and other endovascular disorders, along with the proven experience to provide the highest quality care for even the complex cases.

Division of Pediatric Neurology,
The Pediatric Neurology Division offers services for neonatal neurological disorders, Epilepsy, childhood headaches, and Tourette's Syndrome, services to children with AD/HD and learning disabilities who show difficulties with inattention, impulsivity, hyperactivity and behavioral issues. An interdisciplinary team approach is used in the evaluation of infants and young children who may have Autistic Spectrum Disorder and/or serious communication disorders. The Genetic/Behavioral Syndromes Service offers comprehensive services for children with known genetic syndromes, including comorbid neurodevelopmental/neurocognitive diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing care. Services are provided for children with movement disorders, hypotonicity, lack of coordination, muscle weakness and polyneuropathies.

Georgetown University Center for Child and Human Development,
A division of Georgetown University's Department of Pediatrics, the Georgetown University Center for Child and Human Development is founded on an interdisciplinary approach to service, training programs, research, community outreach, and public policy.  Located in the Nation's capital, the Georgetown University Center is the only center that serves both vulnerable children and their families as well as influences local, national, and international programs and policy.  Importantly, the Center brings to bear this unique capacity on critical social issues of our time that affect children and their families such as poverty, homelessness, and violence.
